Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

Friday, February 6 at 7pm

The Mindful Self-Compassion group will meet for 6 weeks on the first and third Fridays from January 16th - April 3rd in Discovery Hall, from 7-9. (However on Jan. 16th we will meet in Fellowship Hall.)  We will be using course materials developed by Kristin Neff and Chris Germer, two researchers in the field of self-compassion.

Self-compassion is treating ourselves with the same kindness, care and understanding that we would offer to others when they suffer, fail, or feel inadequate. While many people worry that being too kind to ourselves will make us weak, research has shown that self-compassion turns out to be much more effective than self-criticism for success at work, health, personal relationships and fulfillment of our aspirations.

Together in the group, we'll learn more about the research and the various practices to help cultivate self-compassion, including guided meditations.

Please join us! We'll be meeting the first and third Fridays in February & March and the first Friday in April. Please contact Michelle (mlieberg@bellsouth.net) or Pat (patricia.shea@gmail) for more information.

Game Night

Saturday, February 7 at 6pm

Ashok and Shelley Nagrani's home address can be found in Breeze.
Shelley will provide a dinner dish. Please bring a dinner side, dessert or snack to share.
People usually end up playing 2 or 3 games and staying for 3-4 hours. It's okay to come late or leave early -- some people have as much fun watching games as playing.
What kind of games? Well, we've never played a Hasbro or Parker Brothers game, so not Monopoly or Candyland. We mostly play newer games that are less about pure luck and don't eliminate players, making them fun to play even when one isn't winning. That being said, bring any game you like to play and see if others are interested in it.
