The Wheel of Fortune
Fate and fortune have puzzled theologian, philosophers, all of humanity throughout human history. Is “what goes on here” defined by arbitrariness or is there some kind of puzzling direction to our existence? What are we to do?
UUMAN's Board of Trustees uses Covid Act Now to monitor current Covid risk levels. We are thrilled to see that the counties in which the majority of us live are in the Low Risk category. Masks are optional for indoor activities, and indoor congregational singing can occur at this time. We are happy to say that UUMAN's community is highly vaccinated and boosted—thank you for doing your part to keep our risk as low as possible!

According to the ancient Indian sage Patanjali, in its most basic sense, yoga is the “cessation of the turning of thought.” Yet, modern western philosophy is said to start with Descartes who uttered his famous phrase “I think, therefore I am.” Well…what are we to make of this?
A “Mulligan” in golf is a do-over. It’s your chance to, without penalty, try again when your shot goes into the next fairway, into an unforgiving patch of poison ivy, etc. This is a very good rule. How can we apply this to our work at UUMAN?

What does it mean to be a Unitarian Universalist? This question gets asked a lot, by newcomers and long-time UUs alike! As UUs, we encourage each other’s spiritual development as we search for truth and meaning.
